Bank Holiday Weekend

It was a long weekend here this weekend, which is always welcome and which we put to good use.

Saturday was a bit gloomy so we mostly stayed indoors and I got loads of sewing done. I was working on Burda World of Fashion 2/2007 #123 and it basically all went horribly wrong from beginning to end! If I were to apportion blame I'd say it was 25% incomprehensible directions, 25% stupidity, 25% rushing to finish the stupid thing and 25% bad luck. Despite that it all came together pretty quickly, so it wasn't long before I discovered that it totally wasn't going to fit. As luck would have it though it totally fits my sister perfectly so I just need to hem it for her. I'll get some photos of her wearing it while we're on holiday next week, but for today the headless one is on modelling duty because it is way to big for me.

Sunday was a lovely day, rain had been forecast but it actually turned out to be a day of glorious sunshine. We were heading to the Chatham Maritime Food & Drink Festival so we were really pleased that the weather turned out so nice. We met up with family, ate some really nice food and the girls had a really nice play time courtesy of one of the local nurseries.

When we got home I got a good start on another jersey dress before making a (very light!) dinner for us all.

On Monday we had an appointment at the bank, which is only noteworthy because we had an appointment at the bank on a bank holiday. The clue is in the name bank people, take a day off! I spent the rest of the day finishing up my dress, which thankfully turned out really nicely. I've just cut out the bits for a second one so I think this pattern deserves its own post, but here's a sneaky peak for today.

I love it when things go right!

Real shame the first dress didn't work out, seems like fate with that much stacked against it! Hope your sister likes it. Hadn't noticed you are from the Medway before, we lived in Gillingham for 3 years. Looking forward to seeing more of your pink dress later.

Too bad about the first dress - the fabric is very pretty. Oh well, your lucky sister!

Definitely fate, it was even the right length for her whereas I'd have needed to remove several inches!

I might have to see if I can get more of that fabric, I do love it.
